Male Ultrasound Scans: Prostate & Scrotal
Male Ultrasound Scans are non-invasive imaging procedures used to assess the health of the male reproductive and urinary systems. Two common types include:
Prostate Ultrasound £120
Also known as a transrectal ultrasound (TRUS), this scan uses high-frequency sound waves to create detailed images of the prostate gland. It is typically used to:
Evaluate prostate size and shape
Investigate symptoms such as difficulty urinating or elevated PSA levels
Assist with prostate biopsy procedures
Detect conditions like benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostatitis, or prostate cancer
The scan is quick, usually takes about 15–30 minutes, and is performed with a small probe inserted into the rectum.
Scrotal Ultrasound £120
This scan examines the testicles and surrounding structures within the scrotum. It is often used to:
Investigate pain, swelling, or lumps
Diagnose conditions such as testicular torsion, varicocele, hydrocele, or tumors
Assess injuries or infections
Evaluate causes of infertility
Scrotal ultrasound is painless and performed externally using a handheld probe.
